Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Countertop

The surface the whole house gathers around

The piece

Food-safe, and provably so.

A surface your family eats off deserves a straight answer about what is on it. This is solid teak under a natural oil finish — food-safe once cured, low VOC, no lacquer film, no particleboard core, no formaldehyde adhesives anywhere. It arrives smelling like a woodshop, not a chemical, because there is nothing to off-gas.

Daily life proves it out in the kitchen: dough turned directly on the wood, a toddler's crackers eaten straight off the surface, spills wiped up without wondering what they touched. Knife work still belongs on a cutting board — that rule protects the counter, not the food.

  • Deep enough for prep, serving, and stools
  • Food-safe oil finish — cured, low VOC, nothing to off-gas
  • Warm under forearms where stone runs cold
  • Overhang seats two for breakfast and homework
  • Solid teak replaces builder-grade laminate with repairable material

It fits real homes.

Pancake Sundays

Sunday, 9 a.m., and the countertop disappears under the flour zone: batter bowl, dusted hands, one kid on a stool supervising. The syrup wipes away by ten; the tradition is the part that sticks.

First Mug Down

The house is still dark when the first coffee lands with a soft knock of ceramic on wood. Ten quiet minutes, both palms flat on a surface that is never cold the way stone is, before anyone else wakes.

Homework and Simmer

Fractions at one end, onions browning at the other. The countertop is long enough for both, and the best math help of the week happens three feet from the stove at 4 p.m. on a Tuesday.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Can I prep food directly on it, or is the finish just for looks?
Prep away — the finish is natural oil, nothing else: no lacquer, no polyurethane film, and finishing authorities class oil finishes as food-safe once fully cured, about thirty days after the final coat. For upkeep on food-contact areas use food-grade mineral oil, never hardware-store 'teak oil', which contains no oil from teak and is not food-safe. Keep knife work on a board and hot pans on a trivet, and the surface handles everything else a kitchen throws at it.
Can I get a size cut for my island or cabinets?
Yes — send your length, depth, and any overhang you want, and we confirm the drawing before the build starts. Because each top is made to order, the wood is cut to your cabinets rather than the other way around. One planning rule from the shop: overhangs past about ten inches want brackets or corbels underneath, and we will flag it if your dimensions call for them.
