Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Bed

The bed the whole day ends at

The piece

Nothing to breathe in but wood.

A bed is the one piece of furniture you spend eight unconscious hours beside, which makes the bedroom the worst room in the house for a finish that off-gasses. This frame is solid teak with a natural oil finish — low VOC, no lacquer film, no particleboard core, so no formaldehyde adhesive anywhere in the room you sleep in.

It arrives in the primary bedroom smelling faintly of the woodshop, not of chemicals — there is nothing to air out and no two-week headache window. The oil is rubbed in by hand and cured, and years from now a refresh takes a rag and twenty minutes, not a refinisher.

  • Solid teak rails — no creak to develop, no bolts to re-tighten
  • Headboard height set for reading upright against two pillows
  • Natural oil finish, low VOC — nothing off-gassing beside your pillow
  • Works with a mattress alone; no box spring required
  • Nicks spot-sand and re-oil at home in ten minutes

It fits real homes.

Saturday, no alarm

Saturday, 8 a.m., low autumn sun working its way up the headboard. Coffee on the nightstand, last night's book still open, the grain lit sideways for an hour — and nobody is going anywhere until it fades.

One more chapter

Eight-fifteen on a school night, one more chapter, always one more. A small body climbs up with a stack of picture books, leans back against the headboard, and the frame takes the wiggling without a single creak.

Home off the red-eye

Home off the red-eye at 1 a.m., bag abandoned in the hall. The lamp, the familiar grain, the specific mercy of your own bed after four nights of hotel beds — worth the whole trip home.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What are the beds and headboards made of?
Solid hardwood throughout — no veneers or particleboard. Frames and headboards in this collection are joined with bolted wood-to-wood connections that can be tightened over the years rather than replaced.
Do you build custom sizes?
We do. Twin through California king are standard, and each frame is made to order, so headboard height, platform height, and non-standard mattress sizes can all be accommodated on request.
How involved is assembly?
Assembly takes two people about 45 minutes with the included hardware and hex key. Rails bolt to the headboard and footboard; slats drop in — no tools beyond what ships in the box.
What maintenance does a solid-wood bed need?
Retighten the frame bolts once a season for the first year, then yearly. Dust with a dry cloth and refresh the oil finish on the headboard where it sees hand contact.
How does a bed frame ship?
Beds ship made to order in several flat, heavily padded cartons with every bolt bagged and labeled. Tracking covers each carton, so nothing arrives unaccounted for.
Will my mattress fit?
Frames are built to standard US mattress dimensions — full, queen, king — so any US mattress in the size you select fits, foam or spring, and the slat platform carries it without a box spring. Confirm the size in the option selector and allow for the platform lip shown in the drawings. Because each frame is made to order, dimensions can often be adjusted before the build starts — write to support@timbervintique.com first.
How does the headboard attach — and will it work loose?
Freestanding frames include the headboard connection hardware, and it bolts through solid teak — not into a particleboard edge that strips the second time you tighten it. Standalone headboards bolt to most metal frames or mount to the wall into studs with the included hardware; wall mounting keeps the panel rigid against years of nightly leaning. Either way, assembly is minutes with basic tools, and there is no annual re-tightening ritual to inherit.
