Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floor lamp

Light through a hollowed trunk

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A lamp lit from inside the tree.

Thirty-nine inches of hollowed teak log, standing just under a foot wide. The designers balanced the trunk's raw mass against the softness of the shade; an artisan selects each log, hollows and shapes it by hand, then wires it with UL-listed parts, shade, bulb, and cord fitted at the workshop. Solid trunk, not a veneer tube around a hollow form.

A cheap floor lamp is landfill in three years and reads as filler the whole time. This one is dried twenty days before it is hollowed, its moving finished, so the trunk stands planted for decades. In a living-room corner or beside the bed it works two jobs — sculpture by day, warm pooled light by night. Visitors assume you found it in a gallery; you get to say it started as a tree.

  • Warm, ambient light for living room, bedroom, or office
  • Reads as sculpture even when switched off
  • 39-inch height suits reading chairs and bed corners
  • Arrives with shade, bulb, and power cord fitted
  • Solid trunk base stands steady without anchoring

It fits real homes.

The nine o'clock chapter

The nine o'clock chapter

House quiet, one chair, one book, the lamp at 2700K throwing its circle of warm light exactly where the page needs it. Phone in the other room, one hour, no screens. The rest of the house can wait until morning.

After the credits

After the credits

Movie over, TV gone dark, and for a few minutes nobody moves — the glow through the hollowed trunk is reason enough to stay on the couch a little longer before anyone reaches for the overhead switch.

The late call

The late call

An eight-o'clock meeting runs long in the home-office corner. Overhead lights off, the log lamp on, and the last hour of the workday stops feeling like an office at all — one warm thing behind you on the camera, and in front of you.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain climbs the full height of the trunk — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name. Under the lit bulb the grain warms from within, shifting as you cross the room.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. An artisan hand-rubs more into the hollowed base, deepening the gold to a warm satin that glows under the bulb — and the lamp arrives smelling faintly of wood, not of a chemical topcoat.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the trunk base stands planted and heavy for decades — no split opening down the side the first dry winter the heat runs.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors teak deepens toward amber and only silvers outdoors, under sun and rain. Beside a bright window the trunk warms slowly and evenly, and a light sand and re-oil reset it to gold whenever you like.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Logs are chosen one at a time, after their twenty days in the kiln, for sound heartwood and honest figure. Cracked or brittle trunks never become a lamp.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The trunk is hollowed and shaped slightly proud of its final form, leaving material for the handwork that opens the light path through the wood.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Inside and out, the log is sanded through successive grits until every reachable surface feels right against an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, then the shade, bulb, and cord are fitted and the wiring is tested lit before the lamp leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are the lamps made and wired?
Each lamp base in this collection is turned or shaped from solid wood, wired with UL-listed components for US outlets, and finished by hand so the grain carries the light. Real wood, all the way through the base, not a veneer over a tube.
Can I adjust the height or shade?
Base height and shade pairing can be adjusted when you order — a taller build for a console, a compact one for a nightstand. Ask and we will match proportions to the spot before the build starts.
What comes in the box?
This lamp arrives with the lampshade, bulb, and power cord included; the plug is not included, so a standard plug for your outlet is fitted at installation. The build stands 39 inches tall and about 11.8 inches wide.
Any care advice?
Dust the base with a dry cloth and keep the cord untwisted at the outlet. The wood needs nothing more than an occasional wipe of oil; keep the trunk a couple of feet from a heat vent so one side does not dry faster than the other.
How do lamps ship?
Every lamp is made to order and packed in a foam-fitted box with the shade boxed separately. Photograph the box before the driver leaves; tracking is sent to you the day it ships out.
