Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

The piece

The wall by the stove becomes the most used shelf in the house.

A live-edge shelf puts the working spice collection where the cooking happens, sealed with a food-safe finish that shrugs off steam rising from the range below. The artisan picks each board for a wane worth showing at eye level, shapes it, and sands the natural edge smooth by hand.

The usual system is a deep cabinet where the cumin hides behind the cinnamon and half the jars are duplicates bought in defeat. Shallow by design, this shelf keeps every label facing out, one reach from the pan — and it hangs a strip of real grain among the tile and steel that you notice every time the kettle fills.

  • Keeps working spices one reach from the stove
  • Shallow depth keeps every label facing out
  • Raised front rail holds jars when you grab one
  • Food-safe seal wipes clean of cooking film
  • Also serves a coffee bar, pantry, or bathroom

It fits real homes.

Taco Tuesday reach

Taco Tuesday reach

Weeknight, onions in the pan, one hand stirring, the other finding the smoked paprika by memory — no cabinet opened, no label squinted at, no beat missed.

Sunday sauce day

Sunday sauce day

The long-afternoon sauce lines up its cast — oregano, bay, fennel seed — along the live edge like tools on a bench, everything back in place by cleanup.

The coffee station

The coffee station

Mounted over the coffee corner instead: cinnamon, cocoa, and the good honey waiting at 6:30 a.m. — the first shelf touched in the house every single morning.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, even grain runs the length of the shelf, breaking into livelier figure along the natural edge — calm from across the kitchen, characterful at chopping distance.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

The wood's own oils get help from a hand-applied, food-safe sealant that deepens the tone — so a shelf living over a steaming pot wipes clean instead of drinking the kitchen in.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

A full row of glass jars weighs more than it looks, and the dense hardwood face carries it without sag — through boiling-pot Augusts, dry-furnace Februaries, and every steaming kettle in between.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Kitchen light mellows the shelf slowly and evenly rather than fading it in patches; a light sanding and a fresh food-safe coat bring the warm tone back anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time for a live edge worth keeping at eye level — stock already kiln-dried until the moisture meter says done. Twisted or dull boards never make the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The shelf is cut slightly proud of its final line, the natural edge cleaned by hand rather than straightened away.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Face, rail, and wane are sanded by hand through five grits until a reaching hand meets nothing but smooth wood.

The final inspection

The final inspection

The food-safe sealant goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker loads a test row of jars and checks fit and finish before the rack is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How do the spice shelves keep jars in place?
Each shelf is solid wood with a raised front rail that keeps jars put when the pan needs you fast — shallow by design, so every label stays visible and nothing hides in a second row.
Can they be sized to my kitchen wall?
Widths are cut to order to fit the wall beside your stove or inside a pantry door. Tiered sets are built from neighboring boards so the grain runs as a family down the wall.
How do they mount?
Mounting hardware and a paper template are included. Two screws per shelf into studs or the included anchors — most kitchens have all three shelves up within half an hour, level on the first try thanks to the template.
How do I clean them in a kitchen?
Kitchens are hard on wood: wipe cooking film off monthly with a barely damp cloth and dry. The boards go through twenty days of controlled kiln-drying before cutting, so steam from the range will not cup the shelf — an occasional wipe of oil does the rest.
How are they packed?
Spice shelves ship made to order in slim padded boxes, sets together in one carton, hardware bagged inside. If a carton arrives crushed, photograph it and tell us — we make it right. Tracking arrives by email at dispatch.
Is the finish safe around food?
Yes. The shelf is sealed with a food-safe protective finish chosen for kitchen duty — it deepens the natural grain, resists moisture and steam, and is safe beside open jars, loose herbs, and everything else a working kitchen keeps within reach.
