Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Garden bench

A garden bench built for open weather

The piece

Silver or golden — the choice is yours.

Left to full sun and rain, teak silvers to a soft driftwood gray in six to twelve months. That gray is a paper-thin surface layer, not damage — a light sanding brings the gold back whenever you want it. One note from people who watch furniture age: a covered porch grays patchily, so commit to open weather or seal it each spring.

Either way the structure underneath does not move. Boards go through a twenty-day kiln before the first cut, joints are shaped to shed water instead of trapping it, and teak's own oils and silica — the chemistry that kept a century of ship decks sound — do the daily work out in the back garden.

  • Seats two adults for morning coffee or a long phone call
  • Teak's oils and silica resist rot and insects without any spray
  • Stays out through all four seasons — no fall carry to the garage
  • Heavy enough to hold its spot in a gusty storm
  • Arrives a finished bench — no assembly Saturday

It fits real homes.

First coffee outside

The first fifty-degree morning in March, coffee goes out the back door. The seat is dry by seven — oiled teak sheds dew instead of holding it — and the workday waits another ten minutes.

The tomato report

Every July evening ends the same way: a slow lap past the beds, then five minutes on the bench — the seat still holding the afternoon's warmth — tallying what ripened, what the rabbits took, and what gets water tomorrow.

Graduation open house

A Saturday in May, eighty guests over three hours. The bench by the hydrangeas holds grandparents, then the cooler run, then the photo everyone frames — the graduate on the armrest, gown half unzipped.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Can these benches really live outside year-round?
Garden benches in this collection are solid teak — the same oil-rich wood used on ship decks — so they live outside year-round without paint, sealer, or a cover.
What lengths do you build?
Standard lengths seat two or three, and custom lengths are available since each bench is made to order. Tell us the border, path, or porch it will live along.
Is assembly needed, and where should it sit?
Benches arrive assembled or with legs that bolt on in minutes — stainless hardware, included key. Set it on pavers or gravel rather than bare soil to keep the feet dry.
Silver patina or golden teak — do I have to choose?
Left alone, teak weathers to silver-grey; scrub with soapy water each spring. Prefer the golden tone? Clean and re-oil once or twice a year instead — either way the wood stays sound.
How is a garden bench shipped?
Each bench is made to order, wrapped, and shipped boxed or crated by size with stainless hardware bagged inside. Tracking is provided to you the day it ships.
Can it really stay outside all year, even through snow?
Yes — teak spent a century proving itself on ship decks, which see worse than any backyard. Left exposed, the surface silvers to gray in six to twelve months; that layer is paper-thin, and a light sanding returns the gold. Skip hardware-store teak oil outdoors — it contains no teak oil, needs constant reapplying, and can feed mildew — and use a teak sealer each spring if you want the honey tone kept.
Will the joints loosen after a few wet-dry seasons?
Seasonal swing is what breaks outdoor furniture, so we take the movement out before the build: boards are kiln-dried for twenty days at controlled temperatures, and teak moves roughly half as much as oak to begin with. Set the feet on pavers or gravel rather than bare soil so they stay dry, and the frame stays tight under two or three adults at a time.
