Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Cat tree tower

Seventy inches of solid teak to climb

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The cat tree that belongs in the living room.

The design began with an aged teak trunk and one question: what does a cat actually climb? Branches set at true leap intervals, platforms wide enough for a full nine-pound stretch. An artisan shapes each limb, rounds every edge a rough tongue might find, and rubs in a pet-safe oil — no lacquer film to peel, nothing to off-gas, only the faint sweet scent of real teak on delivery day.

Every carpeted tower ends the same way: shredded, shed on, dragged to the apartment dumpster inside two years. This one is furniture — a trunk dried twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln, so it finished its moving before the first cut and holds its shape through a dry-furnace winter. It stands in the corner like a floor sculpture, and it is the last scratching post you buy.

  • Wondering if a big cat fits? Platforms span seventy inches
  • Want real scratching? Solid teak limbs outlast any carpet post
  • Need it to earn space? Lower branches shelve plants and books
  • Hate ugly cat gear? It reads as sculpture from the sofa
  • Worried about wobble? A weighted trunk holds a full-speed landing

It fits real homes.

The morning post

The morning post

Seven on a July morning, blinds up, and the highest branch is manned before the coffee finishes dripping — tail curled, eyes on the feeder, every squirrel logged. The teak under her is warmer than the windowsill and takes a nine-pound landing without a shiver.

Fourth apartment

Fourth apartment

Fourth apartment in six years, another set of landlord-beige walls. Move-in day, and within an hour of the truck leaving the tower anchors the new living room — the one thing that never changes lease to lease. The cat resumes her post like the address never moved.

The four o'clock nap

The four o'clock nap

Four in the afternoon, the sun crosses the widest platform on schedule, and she follows it there like she has every day for two years. The claw-taps show only in raking light; one Saturday of fine sandpaper and oil resets the perch, and the cat keeps the spot.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs up the trunk and along every branch — the calm figure collectors ask for by name. Under a flat palm it feels dense and cool at dawn, then holds the warmth once the afternoon sun has crossed the platforms.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own oils and silica. We hand-rub a pet-safe coat into every platform and limb — a low satin sheen, and the faint sweet, leathery scent of real teak on delivery day, never the chemical smell that clings to a lacquered import for weeks.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, the trunk stays planted and true under a running leap. The dry furnace air that opens checks in fast-dried wood passes over it — this trunk finished its moving in the twenty-day kiln, not in your living room.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors near a bright window, teak deepens toward amber over the years rather than fading; only outdoor sun and rain turn it silver. Either way the change is surface-thin — a light sanding and fresh oil bring the branches back to gold.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Aged trunks are chosen one at a time for sound limbs and clear figure, then spend twenty slow days in the kiln — heat enough that insects and their eggs never ride along.

The shaping process

The shaping process

Branch placement is laid out against a story pole for real climbing intervals, then cut slightly proud — leaving material for the handwork on every limb.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Platforms and branch tops are sanded through five successive grits until they pass the workshop test: an open palm dragged slowly, feeling for anything a paw would find first.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Pet-safe oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker leans full weight on the top platform before the tower is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What makes these different from carpeted cat trees?
A carpet-wrapped tower is a cardboard tube and staples with a two-year life. Each tower here is a real branching trunk, kiln-dried twenty days, sanded through five grits, and finished with pet-safe oil — furniture that stays in the living room when company comes, and gets re-oiled instead of dragged to the curb.
How stable are they for large cats?
Wide, weighted bases and solid teak limbs — about 700 kilograms per cubic meter of it — keep the tower planted under a running leap from across the room. For enthusiastic climbers we include a wall strap, the same insurance you would give a loaded bookcase.
Is there assembly involved?
Most towers arrive in two or three sections that bolt together in under twenty minutes with the included hardware. Platforms come pre-attached — no wordless diagrams, no leftover screw, no lost Saturday.
What about claw marks and cleaning?
Vacuum the platforms and wipe the wood with a barely damp cloth. Claw marks live in the top layer of an oil finish, not through it — fine sandpaper and a wipe of oil erase two years of taps in an afternoon, which a lacquered import can never do without a full refinish.
How do the towers ship?
Towers are made to order and packed in sectioned, padded cartons with corner protection and hardware bagged inside the base. Photograph the cartons before the driver leaves if anything looks crushed, note it on the receipt, and tracking follows by email the day your order leaves the workshop.
How much room does this tower need?
This build stands about 70 inches tall with branches spreading roughly 60 inches — give it a corner with ceiling clearance, a clear landing zone, and at least two feet from a heat vent, the placement rule for any solid wood. The lower branches earn the footprint as display shelves even in rooms without a cat in residence.
