Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Vanity shelf

Warm wood in a cold-tile room

The piece

Teak is what the steam room uses.

Every other surface in a bathroom goes cold — tile, porcelain, chrome. Teak is the exception, which is why commercial steam rooms and spa benches are built from it: rooms far wetter than any home bath. Its natural oils and silica shrug off humidity, and a hand-rubbed oil finish sheds splashes instead of absorbing them.

Mounted in the primary bathroom, it is the one warm thing at 9:30 on a winter night — towel on top, glass within reach, steam rising off the tub. Black spots on bath wood are mildew feeding on soap film, not the wood failing; a quick rinse and a running fan keep this shelf clear for years.

  • Keeps razor, watch, and glasses one reach from the mirror
  • Teak stays warm to the touch when tile goes cold
  • Oiled surface sheds steam and splashes without swelling or peeling
  • Same wood commercial steam rooms use, sized for a home bath
  • Clears the counter so wipe-downs take thirty seconds

It fits real homes.

Seven minutes, no searching

Six-forty on a Tuesday, mirror still fogged. Razor, watch, glasses — each found by feel on the shelf while the shower drains and the coffee maker gurgles downstairs. Seven minutes, no searching, out the door.

Bath night, phone down

Nine-thirty on a Thursday night, kids finally down. The tub fills, the phone goes face-down on the shelf next to a candle and a glass of wine, and the wood stays warm under a resting hand while the tile goes cold.

The Wednesday-night staging

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the guest bath gets its staging: rolled towels, a new bar of soap, eucalyptus on the shelf. His mother notices before dinner — she always notices — and this year there is nothing to find.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Will these shelves hold up in a humid bathroom?
Yes. Each shelf in this collection is cut from solid teak, whose natural oils resist moisture better than nearly any furniture wood. The finish is chosen for daily steam and splashes.
What lengths and depths are available?
Standard lengths run from about 16 to 36 inches, but every shelf is made to order — send us the width of your alcove or wall and we will cut to it.
What does mounting involve?
Shelves ship with concealed brackets and hardware for both studs and masonry. Anchor into at least one stud where possible; over tile, use the included anchors and a quality masonry bit.
How do I care for teak near a shower?
Wipe off standing water after showers and let the shelf breathe. A light re-oiling every few months in a steamy bathroom keeps the teak golden rather than grey.
How is my order packed and shipped?
Every shelf is made to order, wrapped edge to edge, and boxed with rigid corner guards. You receive tracking the day it ships from the workshop.
Will solid wood really hold up over a steamy shower?
Teak is the default wood of commercial steam rooms and spa benches — environments wetter than any home bathroom — because its natural oils and silica resist water on their own. Our boards are also kiln-dried for twenty days before the build, so humidity swings do not move them. If black spots ever appear, that is mildew feeding on soap film sitting on the surface, not the wood failing: rinse, run the fan, and it stays clear.
What can I mount it into, and how much will it hold?
Studs are best: two screws into framing will carry far more than the shelf will ever hold — stacked towels, bottles, a potted fern. Over a toilet where the studs miss the layout, use the rated drywall anchors in the hardware pack and keep the heavier items near the anchored side. The shelf itself is solid teak, not a hollow laminate box, so the mounting is the limit, never the wood.
