Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall sculpture

Carved depth a flat print can't fake

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A wall sculpture that changes with the hour, not the trend.

The designer shaped these contours around one idea: relief deep enough to cast a real shadow. An artisan selects a teak panel for calm figure, carves the flowing openings by hand, then sands the curves until light slides across them without snagging on a single tool mark. The panel is kiln-dried twenty days first, so it hangs flat and never checks along a carved edge.

A printed canvas reads the same at every hour and looks dated the season the trend turns. This does the opposite — the shadows lengthen and swing as the afternoon moves, so the wall is a little different at four than it was at two. No second panel is carved from this board, and the quiet pride is knowing the piece on your wall exists exactly once.

  • Real carved depth casts shadows a flat print never will
  • Holds the wall above a sofa, console, or mantel
  • Hangs flush on two screws with the fitted hardware
  • Needs no frame, glass, or spotlight to read
  • One hand-carved original — no second copy exists

It fits real homes.

Four o'clock shadows

Four o'clock shadows

Western light reaches the wall and the carving comes alive — shadows stretching through the openings, shifting a little each week as the season lowers the sun. It is the room's quietest show, running free every afternoon while the TV stays off.

The long look

The long look

A guest drifts over with their coffee and stays, tracing the contours with their eyes, tilting to catch the relief through the openings. Ten minutes into the party they are still standing there, and the host lets the question who made this hang a beat.

First nail up

First nail up

Boxes still taped in the garage, the sofa not yet delivered — but the sculpture goes up the first evening in the new place, and a bare rental living room suddenly belongs to somebody in particular. It is the first thing that makes the house theirs.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the height of the panel, so the carved openings — not busy figure — carry the drama across the face, even in the flat light of an overcast morning.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into every contour of the relief, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that catches lamplight without the glare of a plastic-looking coat.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the panel hangs flat and true through the humid-summer, dry-winter swing that warps thinner boards on a wall.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the gold deepens slowly with the light. On a hard south-facing wall the face may pale evenly over years; rotate it now and then, or a light sanding and fresh oil bring the carving back anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Panels are pulled one at a time for grain that will read calm behind the carving, so nothing competes with the shadows. Twisted or dull stock never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The flowing contours and openings are traced onto the panel, then cut slightly proud of the line for the hand-carving and rasp work to follow.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every curve and inside edge of the openings is sanded through successive grits until the relief runs smooth under an open palm.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the hanging hardware, flatness, and finish before sign-out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Wall art in this collection is worked from solid teak panels and slices — carved, joined, or arranged — so the piece has real depth and shadow, not a printed pattern on board. The panel is kiln-dried before carving, so it stays flat on the wall instead of cupping.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions that hold the wall without crowding it.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or a French cleat chosen by weight — with matching drywall and masonry anchors in the box. Most pieces hang level on two screws in a few minutes.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth, and keep it off a wall that takes hard afternoon sun so the tone shifts evenly. Nothing else is required year to year; if the face ever looks thirsty, a wipe of oil brings the relief back.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed to you once the carton ships; check the corners on arrival and note any damage before signing.
Where does this carved design work best?
The relief reads strongest on a wall that gets changing daylight or a nearby lamp raking across it — above a sofa, along a hallway, or over a console. The carved openings show the wall color behind them, so it sits well on white, plaster, and deep paint alike.
