Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall sculpture

Carved depth no print can fake

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A wall piece that changes with every hour of the day.

Free-flowing openings are carved deep into solid teak, so the piece holds real shadow instead of printing the illusion of it. A carver works each hollow by hand until the edges roll soft under a thumb, and because the openings follow your board's grain, the piece that ships is the only one of its kind — a fact, not fine print.

The big blank wall above the sofa defeats most people: a grid of frames feels like a dentist's office, a single print feels temporary. Carved teak solves it with one move — actual depth, actual grain, shadows that shift as the afternoon crosses the room. Years in, it is still the thing your eye lands on when the house finally goes quiet.

  • Fills the wall above a sofa without a grid of frames
  • Real carved depth casts shadows a flat print cannot
  • Changes character as daylight crosses the room
  • Hangs on two screws; no shelf or styling required
  • Reads as the room's focal point on video calls

It fits real homes.

8:58, camera on

8:58, camera on

Tuesday, two minutes before the call. The carving hangs behind the desk chair and reads calm on camera — one focal point, no clutter, real depth where a crowded bookshelf would read as noise. The agenda starts on time.

January, four o'clock

January, four o'clock

Low winter sun comes in flat across the room, and the carved openings stretch their shadows a foot along the wall. The one piece in the house that quietly rearranges itself with the season.

The dinner-party detour

The dinner-party detour

Between the main course and dessert, a guest drifts over with a glass of wine and stands close, the way people stand in galleries — then a fingertip finds the rolled edge of a hollow, and the question comes: who carved this?

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain flows through the carved face, bending visibly around each opening, and in raking lamplight the figure reads like topography — the calm grain that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the relief and its edges, so the surface arrives smelling faintly of wood — sweet, a little leathery — never of a chemical topcoat.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half of oak's, the carved panel hangs flat through the furnace months that bow thinner decor off the wall.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the sculpture deepens slowly toward amber rather than greying — silver takes outdoor weather. On a wall with hard afternoon sun the shift stays mild and even; a light sanding and fresh oil reset the gold anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Boards are pulled one at a time for figure that will carry a carving, after a twenty-day kiln cycle that leaves the panel too dry to move on your wall. Twist, checks, or dull grain never make the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The abstract openings are traced from the design, then cut slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the carver's gouge to finish.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every hollow and edge is sanded through five grits until the relief feels soft under a fingertip, not merely smooth to the eye.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker hangs the piece on a shop wall, checks the hardware and faces under raking light, then boxes it.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Solid teak, carved — not a printed pattern or a resin cast. The depth and shadow are physically there, which is why the piece reads differently at nine in the morning than it does at dusk.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions; over-sofa pieces usually run about two-thirds the sofa's width.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws; the cleat versions lift on and off for cleaning.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust the hollows with a soft dry brush a few times a year — that is the whole job. The oil finish has no film to crack or yellow, and a fresh wipe of oil every year or two revives the depth of the grain.
How does wall art ship?
Flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside, tracking emailed at dispatch. Open it before you break down the box — if anything shifted in transit, photograph it and we make it right.
Which wall shows this carving best?
One that gets light from the side — a window to the left or right, or a lamp below. The carving lives on shadow, so raking light brings out far more depth than flat overhead lighting.
