Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Twisted floor lamp

Teak that glows from the inside

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A column of teak that twists around its own glow.

The designers shaped the spiral so its elongated openings release light in bands, never a bare glare — a lamp studied as carefully off as on. An artisan carves the twist from solid teak dried twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln, fairs each curve into the next by hand, and oils the column until the grain follows the turn under your palm.

Overhead light flattens a room; this one warms it from the corner the ceiling fixture never reached. It arrives fully wired with the bulb in the box — you attach the plug that matches your outlet, a five-minute screwdriver job we say out loud instead of burying in fine print. Then one click at dusk, and the room is yours.

  • No harsh glare — elongated openings cast soft banded light
  • Warms the corner a ceiling fixture leaves cold
  • Arrives fully wired with the bulb in the box
  • Fit your outlet? Attach the matching plug in five minutes
  • Holds the room as sculpture even switched off

It fits real homes.

The dusk switch

The dusk switch

A December weeknight, dark by five. Overheads off, one click, and the twist throws soft ribbons of amber up the wall. The whole room drops its shoulders on cue, and dinner gets cooked by better light.

Bedside, book open

Bedside, book open

The lamp stands in the corner a nightstand light cannot reach, washing the page warm while the carved column keeps watch at the edge of your eye. When the chapter ends, the switch is one bare-arm reach away.

Friday, records on

Friday, records on

Nine o'clock, no screens, a record turning and two glasses half full. The lamp is the only light left on, banding the wall through the carved openings — conversations run longer in this kind of glow.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain follows the twist up the full height of the column, so the figure seems to turn with the form. In daylight it reads as sculpture; lit, the same grain glows from inside.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils; we hand-rub more into the carved spiral until the bulb makes the satin surface glow. It arrives smelling of wood shavings, not solvent — there is no lacquer film anywhere on it to off-gas.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak, the tall column stands planted and true — no seasonal lean, no new gaps at the openings when forced-air heat dries the room in January.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors this column will not silver — it deepens slowly toward caramel, and the warm bulb flatters every shade it passes through. A light sanding and fresh oil return it to year-one gold whenever you choose.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Stock is pulled at the lumber stacks for straight grain that can follow the twist without breaking figure. Dull or checked wood never becomes a lamp.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The spiral and its openings are traced from workshop templates, then cut slightly proud — material left for fairing every curve by hand.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Inner and outer faces of the twist are sanded through five grits so light falls on smooth wood everywhere it lands — including the faces you only see lit.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker wires, lights, and levels the lamp in a darkened corner before sign-out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are the lamps made and wired?
Each lamp base in this collection is turned or shaped from solid wood, wired with UL-listed components for US outlets, and finished by hand so the grain carries the light — no printed veneer sleeve over a hollow tube.
Can I adjust the height or shade?
Base height and shade pairing can be adjusted when you order, because each lamp is built after you buy it — a taller build for a console, a compact one for a nightstand. Ask and we will match proportions to the spot.
Does this floor lamp come ready to plug in?
The lamp arrives fully wired with a bulb included. A power plug is not pre-attached — you fit the plug that matches your local outlet, a five-minute job with a standard screwdriver, or ask your electrician to fit one.
Any care advice?
Dust the column with a dry cloth, reaching into the openings where a lit lamp shows dust first, and keep the cord untwisted at the outlet. A wipe of oil once a year keeps the carved faces rich — ten minutes, no professional.
How do lamps ship?
Every lamp is made to order and packed in a foam-fitted box with the shade boxed separately when included. Tracking is sent the day it ships, and if transit does damage, we make it right.
How much light does the carved column give off?
It reads as mood and accent light — warm bands through the openings that carry a living room or bedroom in the evening. Pair it with task lighting for reading; a warm LED around 2700K flatters the teak most.
