Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Nightstand

The last thing you touch at night

The piece

Built for the January the furnace runs.

A sticking drawer is how cheap bedside tables announce winter — wood dried too fast moves when the heat comes on, and the drawer you open half-asleep is where you feel it first. Our boards spend twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln before the first cut, so the moving is over before the making begins.

Teak helps with the rest: its seasonal movement runs roughly half that of oak, the least of the common furniture hardwoods. Keep the nightstand a couple of feet from the heat vent and the drawer will glide the same in February as it did on delivery day, year after year.

  • Top sized for a lamp, a book, and the water glass
  • Drawer hides chargers, readers, and the ten p.m. phone
  • Height listed so you can match it to mattress-plus-frame
  • Open shelf stages the next three books in line
  • Solid teak takes the nightly keys-and-phone landing without wincing

It fits real homes.

The 6 a.m. reach

The alarm sounds and the hand knows the route: across the cool oiled top, past the water glass, to the phone. Two winters of forced-air heat, and the drawer under that routine still glides like delivery day.

One more chapter

Eleven-fifteen, the house finally quiet. Glasses fold, the bookmark slides in, and the novel lands on the wood with the soft knock every good night ends on. The lamp clicks off last.

Thanksgiving weekend guest

Wednesday before Thanksgiving, sister inbound. A carafe, a small lamp, and one flower go on the nightstand in the guest room. At breakfast she says the room felt like a good hotel, and the compliment gets quietly banked.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are the nightstands constructed?
Nightstands in this collection are solid wood down to the drawer boxes, with dovetailed or pinned corners — small casework built the way full-size dressers used to be.
Can I match the height to my bed?
Yes. Each nightstand is made to order, so height can match your mattress top, and depth can shrink for narrow bedside walls. Pairs are built together from matching stock.
Is there any assembly?
Nightstands ship fully assembled — drawers fitted and waxed at the workshop. Unbox, place, and load the bedtime books; there is no hardware step at all.
What care keeps them looking right?
Wipe with a slightly damp cloth, use a coaster under the water glass, and re-oil the top yearly. Drawer runners appreciate an occasional rub of paraffin wax.
How do nightstands ship?
Each nightstand is made to order and double-boxed with the drawer secured for transit. Pairs ship together, and tracking is emailed to you when the boxes leave.
What height should a nightstand be next to my bed?
Within about two inches of your mattress top, up or down — that is the range a half-asleep reach forgives. Measure from the floor to the top of your mattress on its frame, then check it against the listed height. Because each piece is made to order, ask about adjusting the height if your bed sits unusually tall or low.
I set water and coffee here every night — will the top mark?
Oiled teak sheds most rings on its own; wipe standing water when you see it and a coaster under hot mugs covers the rest. If a white ring ever does form, a dry cloth under a warm iron lifts it in about thirty seconds, and a once-a-year wipe of oil keeps the surface ready for the next decade of glasses.
