Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.
These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.
Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.
Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.
Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

The piece
Our designers kept the form to a single wall-mounted plank so the live edge carries the whole piece. Each shelf is white oak through its full thickness — no veneer to blister when shower steam hits it twice a day — pulled for figure by selectors with thirty years at the lumber stacks, then dried twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln so the wood finishes moving before the first cut.
Most American bathrooms are the room the builder finished cheapest: white tile, chrome, a wire rack going orange with rust over the toilet. That rack is landfill in three years; solid oak is the board you unscrew, patch two holes, and carry to the next lease. One plank of real wood changes the temperature of the smallest room, and it becomes the one you quietly show off.
Two people, one sink, a 7:20 train. Watch and ring land on the oak, the skincare lineup holds its row, and no elbow knocks a razor down the drain. The counter stays contested; the shelf is assigned seating, warm to a bare hand on a January morning when the tile is not.
Tuesday, 9:30 pm, door locked against the week. A candle, a rolled towel, the phone playing something slow on the oak ledge — wood that stays warm to the touch in a room of cold tile. Steam beads on the mirror and wipes off the oiled grain by morning.
Thanksgiving afternoon, the guest bath takes its shift: folded hand towels stacked on the live edge, the good soap set out. Cousins wash up between the game and the carving, and one of them asks about the board on the wall on the way back to the table.

The shelf face shows oak's bold cathedral arches, and quarter-sawn boards shimmer with ray fleck — figure that catches low morning light sideways, the way it did on a century of American Arts and Crafts furniture. Trace it and the fleck lifts under a fingertip.
Oak's even, tannin-rich grain takes the hand-rubbed oil cleanly across top and live edge, without blotching. Fresh from the box it smells faintly of oil and sawdust — wood, not chemicals, with nothing to off-gas into a small closed room.
Janka hardness near 1,350 and tyloses-plugged pores — the closed-cell structure of whiskey barrels — meet daily steam without swelling. Bathroom humidity swings hard twice a day; oak this dense barely registers it, and drawers and edges never turn sticky in an August of AC cycling.
White oak ages by gaining color, not wear. Through winters of furnace-dry air at 20 percent humidity and summers of shower steam, the shelf above your sink looks more settled at year ten than the day it went up.
Oak boards are pulled one at a time for a clean live edge and lively figure, then kiln-dried twenty days until the moisture meter says done. Twisted or dull stock never becomes a shelf.
The shelf is cut slightly proud of its 16-by-18-inch footprint, preserving the natural edge and leaving material for the handwork to come.
Top, underside, and live edge are sanded by hand through five grades of paper until the natural edge feels smooth against an open palm.
Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks level, bracket seating, and finish under a raking lamp before the shelf leaves the bench.
One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.
