Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Bookshelf

The bookcase that outlives the apartment

The piece

Storage, drawn in one curve.

The curve was drawn dozens of times before it balanced — spans short enough to carry a full row of hardcovers without a hint of sag, negative space generous enough to breathe. Each shelf is solid teak joined straight into the sides, cut from boards that spent twenty days in the kiln so the sweep stays true in a heated room.

Everyone has owned the bookcase that bowed under its first full shelf and stayed at the curb on moving day. This one arrives as a single finished piece, no allen key, and gets blanket-wrapped by the movers instead — the difference between shelving you use up and shelving you keep.

  • Fixed solid shelves — no sag under loaded hardcovers
  • Curved bays sort books into natural groups
  • Arrives finished; no allen key, no lost Saturday
  • Anti-tip strap included for tall builds
  • Works behind a desk or on a living-room wall

It fits real homes.

The video-call backdrop

The video-call backdrop

8:58 on a Tuesday, camera on, the curve over one shoulder. It reads calm on screen — one focal point, no clutter — and at least once a week a coworker asks about it before the agenda starts.

The new-book shelf-in

The new-book shelf-in

Saturday, home from the bookstore with three new spines. Part of the pleasure is deciding which bend of the curve they belong to — the shelf sorts a library into neighborhoods instead of rows.

Ten o'clock chapter

Ten o'clock chapter

One lamp on, a paperback pulled from the lower bend, the arc holding the rest of the collection in the half-light. January outside, furnace running, and not a joint in the shelf has moved.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight teak grain runs the length of every shelf face — a calm figure that keeps the curve in front, and catches low lamplight along each bend in the evening.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak's own oils take the hand-rubbed finish deeply; the shelf edges glow a warm satin exactly where hands reach for books daily, and the wood smells faintly of leather, not lacquer.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with seasonal movement about half that of oak, the shelves stay flat under loaded hardcovers through dry winters and humid summers.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the golden tone deepens rather than fades; rotate a few sun-facing books now and then and the shelf tones evenly, with a light re-oil whenever it looks thirsty.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Shelf boards are pulled one at a time and matched by tone at the rack so the curve reads as a single ribbon of teak.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The sweep is traced from full-size templates, bandsawn proud of the line, then faired by hand until the curve runs true against a flexible batten.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Faces and edges are sanded through five successive grits until a hand sliding along the curve meets nothing but smooth wood.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each; the maker loads every shelf with weight and checks level and racking before it leaves.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are the bookshelves constructed?
Solid hardwood from shelf to frame, with fixed shelves joined directly into the sides — the construction that keeps long spans from sagging under a full row of hardcovers. There is no particleboard in the build, so nothing bows in year three.
Can dimensions be adjusted to my wall?
Yes — height, width, and shelf spacing can be adjusted when you order, because the build starts after purchase. Measure your wall and ceiling first; we regularly build around baseboards, sloped ceilings, and awkward alcoves.
Should a bookshelf be anchored to the wall?
Taller bookshelves include an anti-tip strap and wall anchor, and we recommend using it, especially with children in the house. The strap installs into one stud in a few minutes and is invisible once books are shelved.
What care do loaded shelves need?
Dust with a dry cloth and rotate sun-exposed decor occasionally so the teak tones evenly. An annual coat of oil — twenty minutes with a rag — keeps edges and faces rich; small dings spot-sand and re-oil at home.
How does a bookshelf arrive?
Bookshelves are made to order and ship crated, standing on a padded base with the back protected. Check the crate before the driver leaves and note anything on the receipt; large pieces are delivered by appointment with tracking provided.
How many books does the curved design hold?
Capacity depends on the build you order, but the curved bays are sized for standard hardcovers and trade paperbacks, with deeper bends available for art books. Tell us roughly how many shelf-feet your collection runs and we will size the spans to it.
