Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Side table

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The grain falls in one waterfall from top to floor.

Shaped from a continuous run of solid teak — not a veneer wrapped around a hollow box — the table folds over itself so the grain pours unbroken from top to side. The hollow center holds books without adding a shelf line, and an artisan rounds every edge until the fold feels like one gesture under a palm.

The reading pile always loses its war for territory: sofa arm, floor, cushion. This table ends it with a compartment sized for the current stack, at exactly the reach of a seated hand. Small pieces get leaned on, sat on, and dragged across rooms, so this one is joined like our dining tables — years from now it will still be the sturdiest small thing you own.

  • Open hollow ends the reading pile's war for the sofa arm
  • Oiled top takes the lamp, mug, and midnight water glass
  • Rounded edges are kind to knees and toddler heads
  • One piece replaces a side table plus a book caddy
  • Compact footprint slips beside any sofa or chair arm

It fits real homes.

Sunday, four o'clock

Sunday, four o'clock

The chair by the window, lamp warm, tea landing on the smooth top at exactly the height of the chair's arm. This month's novel comes out of the hollow with the bookmark still holding. One hour, no phone.

Half past eleven

Half past eleven

Last lamp in the living room, half past eleven. The water glass lands on the teak by feel — the rounded edge tells the hand where the surface starts. The novel slides into the open compartment without looking, and Tuesday is officially over.

12:40, pre-nap

12:40, pre-nap

The picture books live in the hollow at exactly kid height, so the daily negotiation starts with a small hand pulling out the same dinosaur story. The rounded corners were chosen with that head height in mind.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain pours over the waterfall edge without a break, and where it turns the corner it catches lamplight like poured honey — the calm figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the top and the inner compartment, so a midnight water glass leaves a ring that wipes off — a warm satin the hand keeps returning to.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with seasonal movement about half of oak's, the folded form stays square when the furnace runs the winter air bone-dry.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the top deepens toward caramel rather than silvering — grey needs outdoor sun and rain. Beside a sunny window the shift stays slow and even; a light sanding and fresh oil bring back the first-day gold anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Stock is pulled so the grain can run continuously over the fold, dried a full twenty days in a controlled kiln first. Boards with twist, checks, or dull figure never make the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The curved rectangle and its hollow are traced from templates, then cut slightly proud — leaving material for the handwork that trues each radius.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Outer curves and the inner compartment are sanded through five grits until every rounded edge feels right against an open palm — the inside gets the same grits as the top.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks stance and level on a flat bench, loads the hollow with books, and signs the table out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are these small tables built?
Solid teak top to floor — no veneer skin over a hollow core, which is why the top can be sanded and re-oiled for decades. Small pieces get leaned on, sat on, and moved constantly, so they carry the same joinery as our dining tables.
Can the height be matched to my sofa?
Yes — heights are made to order, which matters most here. Send us your sofa's arm height and we will build the table two inches under it, or level, as you prefer.
Is any assembly needed?
End and side tables ship fully assembled in almost every design — it comes out of the box as a table. The exceptions arrive with a single bolt-on base and take five minutes with the included key.
How do I keep the finish even?
Wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry; a white ring from a forgotten glass lifts with a cloth and a warm dry iron in under a minute. Re-oil once a year — ten minutes — more often for tables by sunny windows.
How do they ship?
Each table is made to order, wrapped, and double-boxed with corner protection — most travel by standard parcel carrier with tracking at dispatch. If the box arrives crushed, photograph it before opening; we make damage right.
What fits in the open compartment?
It is sized for the reading you actually keep close — a short row of novels or a few oversized picture books, plus a tablet or magazine laid flat. The opening faces outward, so spines stay visible and reachable.
