Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floor lamp

A twist of grain, crowned in light

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A floor lamp that stays sculpture all day long.

The designers let the base twist upward like something grown rather than built, then balanced a fabric shade at reading height. An artisan carves the spiral from joined solid teak blocks — no veneer sleeve over a metal pole — follows the grain around every turn, and oils the surface to a quiet, even luster before wiring it complete with its bulb.

One hard overhead flattens a living room into a waiting room after dark. This lamp is the fix: a low warm pool by the armchair that makes the far corner feel chosen instead of lit. Switched off it holds that corner as sculpture, and the blocks spent twenty days in a controlled kiln first, so the tall spiral stands plumb when winter heat dries the room.

  • Fabric shade spreads a soft, warm pool for reading
  • Twisted teak base reads as finished sculpture, switched off
  • Tall profile anchors a bare corner without extra furniture
  • Arrives wired and tested with bulb; add your US plug
  • Finishes a reading corner beside one good chair

It fits real homes.

The reading pool

The reading pool

Sunday, 9 pm, the chair pulled into the lamplight and the rest of the room falling away past the shade's soft circle. The twist stands guard over the whole hour, grain glowing where the bulb warms it — one reader, one book, nothing else switched on.

Dinner-party corner

Dinner-party corner

A Friday dinner, overheads dimmed for company, the lamp carrying the far corner in warm light through the fabric shade. Late in the night a guest's hand comes to rest on the spiraled teak, tracing a turn of grain, and the host quietly loves the question that follows.

Puzzle under lamplight

Puzzle under lamplight

A Tuesday in February, a thousand-piece puzzle spread on the card table dragged into the lamp's circle, three heads bent low over it. The warm glow makes an ordinary weeknight feel like an occasion, and the corner stays lit long after the edges are done.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain follows every turn of the twisted base — the calm, consistent figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the spiral, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that catches lamplight without a plastic shine.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage among the lowest of any hardwood, the tall base stands planted and plumb even as forced-air heat dries the room into the twenties each winter.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the twist will not silver — the grey patina needs outdoor sun and rain together. Left inside it deepens toward honey-amber over the years, a shade warmer near a bright window, and a light sanding with fresh oil brings the spiral back to gold anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Blocks are pulled one at a time and matched so the grain travels the spiral unbroken. Twisted or dull stock never becomes a base.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The spiral is traced from templates, then bandsawn slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the handwork on every turn.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Each turn is sanded through successive grits until the twist feels right under a passing hand, from the floor to the shade.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the wiring, stance, and shade balance before the lamp is signed out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How are the lamps made and wired?
Each lamp base in this collection is turned or shaped from solid wood, wired with UL-listed components for US outlets, and finished by hand so the grain carries the light.
Can I adjust the height or shade?
Base height and shade pairing can be adjusted when you order — a taller build for a console, a compact one for a nightstand. Ask and we will match proportions to the spot.
What bulb does it take?
This lamp arrives fully wired with the bulb included and the fabric shade fitted. A power plug is not attached, so you add a standard plug for your outlet — a few minutes of work, with simple instructions in the box.
Any care advice?
Dust the base with a dry cloth and wipe a little oil in once a year, when the wood looks thirsty. Keep the spiral a couple of feet from radiators and heat vents — constant one-sided heat is hard on any wood, oiled teak included — and keep the cord untwisted at the outlet.
How do lamps ship?
Every lamp is made to order and packed in a foam-fitted box, the shade boxed separately when included. Tracking is emailed the day it ships, and if anything arrives damaged, photograph the box before you unpack further and write support@timbervintique.com — we make it right.
