Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Daybed

The guest room that lives on one wall

The piece

Retire the air mattress.

Every house has a guest plan it apologizes for — the air mattress losing pressure by 3 am, the sofa bed with a bar where a spine goes. A daybed answers with structure: a solid teak frame, mortise-and-tenon joints, a slatted deck that holds a real twin mattress flat, year after year.

In the sunroom it earns its keep between visits — reading perch by afternoon, landing spot at six. Then Thanksgiving fills the house, the deck takes a sleeper's full weight without a creak, and your guest wakes up without a stripe across the back. Nobody apologizes for anything.

  • Sits like a sofa by day, sleeps a guest by night
  • Slatted solid teak deck holds a standard twin mattress flat
  • No fold-out mechanism, no bar under the sleeper's back
  • Back rail keeps a full row of cushions upright for reading
  • Frame joinery takes sleepovers and sick days without a creak

It fits real homes.

Thanksgiving, the good draw

Thanksgiving fills every bed in the house, and your brother draws the daybed — the assignment everyone pretends is a consolation. In the morning he stretches, pats the rail, and books it for next year before the coffee is on.

Sick-day headquarters

Tuesday, 9 am, a fever and a school absence. The patient moves onto the daybed with pillows, a screen, and standing orders for toast — in sight of the kitchen, close enough to nurse, far enough to actually rest.

August, porch sleeping

The hottest week of summer, and the daybed on the screened porch becomes the best bed in the house. You fall asleep to crickets and wake to the paper hitting the driveway at six.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What size mattress fits, and how thick should it be?
Most daybeds take a standard twin, 38 by 75 inches — check the listed deck dimensions before ordering, and because each frame is made to order, the deck can be sized to the mattress you already own. Eight to ten inches of mattress keeps the back rail useful for sitting; thicker starts to bury it.
Will it creak once people actually sleep on it every weekend?
Creaks come from hardware working loose in wood that is still moving. This frame avoids both: the joints are cut wood to wood for sleeping loads, and the boards spend twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln first, so the wood has finished shifting before the joinery is cut. Rotate the mattress every few months, as on any bed, and the daybed stays silent under nightly use.
