Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Bathroom vanity shelf

Mid-century lines, live-edge teak

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The one surface in the bathroom that earns a second look.

Each vanity shelf starts as one selected teak board carrying its own markings, tones, and grain — solid through, never a printed sticker over sawdust. The designer held the silhouette to clean mid-century proportions that keep a small bathroom feeling open; the artisan follows the live edge by hand, sanding and oiling until the surface reads warm, not glossy.

A bathroom is the one room that fights back — cold tile, a windowsill of half-used bottles, no counter to speak of. One warm shelf ends the clutter and still looks like it wandered in from the living room. When weekend guests wash up and come back asking about the wood shelf with the wavy edge, the bathroom quietly joins the house tour.

  • Keeps the daily routine at hand height, off the wet rim
  • Live front edge faces the room; straight back sits flush
  • Natural teak oils handle steam, splash, and wet hands
  • Slim profile suits powder rooms and small baths
  • Solid wood: refinish at home whenever you choose

It fits real homes.

The no-alarm Sunday

The no-alarm Sunday

Skincare bottles lined along the straight back edge, a coffee cooling near the live one. The morning takes as long as it takes, and the teak holds it all without a tray — warm under a wet hand where the tile beside it stays cold.

Order in a small room

Order in a small room

In a bathroom with no counter to speak of, one solid shelf ends the windowsill clutter. Razor, glass, and the watch that always went missing now live in a single warm line of wood, up off the wet sink rim.

Ten minutes, twice a year

Ten minutes, twice a year

A soft cloth, a little teak oil, one podcast. The shelf drinks the oil back to deep gold — no film to strip, no refinisher to call — and you remember why the plastic organizer never stood a chance in a steamy room.

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs the length of the shelf top — the calm figure that keeps a mid-century line composed under the mirror, and stays smooth under a dripping hand.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils, the reason it shrugs off splash and steam without a film. We hand-rub more into the top, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin with a faint sweet, leathery scent — never lacquer in a closed bath.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with some of the lowest shrinkage of any hardwood, the shelf stays flat through years of humid mornings — twenty days in a controlled kiln means the wood moved before the first cut, not on your wall.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Left alone, the teak surface can drift toward a refined silver-grey — a surface change only, not water damage. A light sanding and fresh oil bring back the gold whenever a steamy season dulls it.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Timber is pulled board by board for distinct markings and a live edge worth keeping. Twisted or dull stock never reaches the bench.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The back and sides are squared for a tight wall fit while the front keeps its natural line — cut proud, ready for handwork.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Top and live edge are hand-sanded through successive grits until the contour feels right against an open palm, not merely looks right.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks flatness, edge feel, and finish before the shelf ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Will these shelves hold up in a humid bathroom?
Yes. Each shelf is cut from solid teak, the wood of commercial steam rooms and spa benches — wetter than any home bath. Its natural oils resist moisture without a plastic film to bubble, and the surface is finished for daily steam and splash.
What lengths and depths are available?
Standard lengths run from about 16 to 36 inches, but every shelf is made to order — send us the width of your alcove or wall and we will cut to it.
What does mounting involve?
Shelves ship with concealed brackets and hardware for both studs and masonry. Anchor into at least one stud where possible; over tile, use the included anchors and a quality masonry bit.
How do I care for teak near a shower?
Wipe off standing water after showers and let the shelf breathe. Re-oil every few months in a steamy bath, when it looks thirsty. Skip hardware-store 'teak oil', which holds no teak oil and can feed mildew — a natural penetrating oil is all it wants.
How is my order packed and shipped?
Every shelf is made to order, wrapped edge to edge, and boxed with rigid corner guards. You receive tracking the day it ships from the workshop.
How big is this shelf, and will the edge match the photo?
The standard build is about 16 inches wide by 18 inches deep, and because the front is a true live edge, depth varies slightly along its length. Your shelf will carry its own grain and edge line — close to the photos, identical to none of them.
