Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Handcrafted solid wood · Wood bench

The wood bench every doorway needs

The piece

Simple to look at. Serious underneath.

A bench takes worse treatment than any chair — full weight dropped onto it after a long day, boots ground into it, kids walking it like a balance beam. So the legs join into thick solid stock with mortise-and-tenon work, not the thin hanger bolts flat-pack fails by, and a maker sits down hard on every corner before it ships.

In the entryway that translates to a seat with nothing to report — no flex when two adults land at once, no bolts to re-tighten in month one, no wobble to grow into. It works the unglamorous shifts for decades, and that quiet steadiness is what earns its place.

  • Seat height sized for lacing boots and pushing up without help
  • Mortise-and-tenon base holds two adults sitting down hard at once
  • Open space beneath keeps the daily shoe rotation off the floor
  • Slides to the table when the holiday headcount outgrows the chairs
  • Oiled seat wipes clean of mud-season grit before it can scratch

It fits real homes.

The 7:40 scramble

Seven-forty on a school morning, two kids side by side, four shoes being tied at once while the bus rounds the corner. The bench takes the full drop of a third-grader's weight and reports nothing. Out the door in thirty seconds.

Costco staging post

Back from the Saturday Costco run, six bags land on the wood bench instead of the floor. Keys beside them, then the second trip to the car. Forty pounds of groceries at a time, and the seat has never once creaked about it.

Boot season opens

First hard frost of November and the bench changes jobs — sneakers out, snow boots lined up underneath, gloves in a basket at one end. It runs winter logistics until the March thaw, and the salt scuffs sand out in spring.

Made to order

Every piece is made to order, and dimensions vary from one to the next. Need a different size for your space? Tell us your measurements and we'll build it to fit.

Teak, up close.

The grain

Honey and amber bands run the length of each plank. No two boards repeat, so your piece is the only one with this pattern.

The oils

Teak grows its own protective oils, and they carry the wood through dry winters and humid summers that crack lesser boards. Spills just need wiping up promptly.

The weight

Lift a corner and you feel dense, solid stock with no hollow frames or fillers. Kiln-dried before the build, it sits flat and stays put, even when the heat comes on.

The years ahead

Teak deepens toward a richer brown as it lives with you. A wipe of teak oil twice a year holds the tone you chose.

From plank to piece.

Select

Planks graded by practiced eyes, then kiln-dried slowly until they settle.

Mill

Each board cut, squared, and matched to the pattern.

Shape

Joined and eased with hand tools after the machines have done the rough work.

Finish

Sanded fine, then oiled until the grain reads deep.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

How much weight can the bench actually take?
Two adults sitting down together is normal service, not a stress test. The legs join into thick solid stock wood to wood — mortise-and-tenon, not the thin hanger bolts that work loose on flat-pack benches within a year. One honest rule: keep all four feet on a level floor, because any bench will rock on an uneven one.
Can it live in a mudroom by the front door, with wet boots and road salt?
Yes — that is the shift it was built for. Teak's own oils and silica are why it never splinters when wet; wipe off slush and salt as they appear and keep it out of standing water. Grit is the real enemy, since it acts like sandpaper underfoot. Winter scuffs sand out at home with fine paper and a wipe of oil — ten minutes, no refinisher.
