Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

A tide, stopped at sixteen inches

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Rhythmic folds, like a tide stopped mid-swell.

The carver works the folds by hand until they roll like water caught mid-swell — golden grain across the crests, deep charcoal along the edges for contrast. The teak blank is kiln-dried before any carving begins, so the panel stays flat on the wall, and the hidden mount is fitted and tested at the workshop.

Awkward small walls — the hallway stretch, the gap beside the bookshelf — usually collect filler prints nobody chose with care. Sixteen inches of hand-carved teak works the other way: it rewards the close look, changes with every lamp and window, and months after hanging it the owner is still finding new light in the folds.

  • Fits hallways, entries, and gallery groupings at 16 inches square
  • Hidden mount holds it flat, hardware out of sight
  • Golden grain and charcoal edges suit warm and neutral rooms
  • Real carved depth — shadows shift with every light
  • Needs nothing beyond an occasional dusting

It fits real homes.

The 7:15 pass

The 7:15 pass

Every school-morning pass down the hall, the window light sits a little differently in the folds. A three-second glance on the way to the coffee — and most days it is worth it.

Gallery-wall Saturday

Gallery-wall Saturday

The frames get rearranged around it, not the other way around. By afternoon the carved square holds the center of the gallery wall — the one piece up there with actual depth.

The reading lamp below throws the carving into full relief, crests bright and hollows dark. It is the last thing in focus before the light clicks off.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain rides the carved crests of each fold, and raking hallway light turns the figure almost liquid — the calm consistency that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak's own oils get a light hand treatment that deepens the gold across the folds, letting the charcoal edges frame the warmth without a trace of gloss.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak — the carved panel hangs flat through dry furnace winters and swampy August weeks alike.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the crests deepen toward honey-amber; silver-grey takes outdoor sun and rain. A light sanding and fresh oil restore the golden tone anytime.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

A dense teak blank is chosen for figure and soundness once its drying is verified. Stock with twist, checks, or dull grain never becomes a carving.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The rhythmic folds are carved slightly proud of the pattern, leaving material for the handwork that gives each crest its rise.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Crests and hollows are sanded by hand through five grits until the folds roll without a single hard edge.

The final inspection

The final inspection

The finish is applied and buffed, the hidden mount fitted and tested flat before the piece leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Solid teak, carved in relief from a single blank — real depth and shadow, not a printed pattern, with no veneer or MDF anywhere. The deep charcoal edging is finished wood, not a laminate, so the whole piece ages as one.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
A soft dry brush along the folds is all it asks. Keep it off walls with harsh direct afternoon sun so the tone deepens evenly — indoor teak darkens gracefully with age and never goes grey inside.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Photograph the carton if it arrives crushed and we make it right; tracking is emailed once it ships.
What size is this piece?
This carving measures 16 inches wide by 16 inches high, with a hidden mount fitted at the workshop so it sits flat against the wall. Because each piece is made to order, larger or smaller builds can be requested.
