Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Bathroom shelf

Warm wood in a tile room

The piece

Storage that was carved, not assembled.

Each shelf is carved from solid teak — the wood commercial steam rooms are built from, because its natural oils and silica live through wetter days than any home bath. The carver works the compartments until towels, oils, and jars each have a place, then sands every hollow smooth enough to reach into without looking.

A bathroom is mostly tile and porcelain — surfaces that go cold in October and stay cold until May. One carved piece of wood changes the room's temperature without touching the thermostat. Rinse the soap film off now and then, run the fan — the same small habits a spa crew keeps — and the teak stays golden in the one bathroom on the block that reads deliberate.

  • Carved compartments hold rolled towels, oils, jars, and candles
  • Spa-grade teak takes daily steam without swelling or splinters
  • Warm to the touch where tile and metal run cold
  • Soap film wipes off; a fan habit keeps it golden
  • One sculptural piece organizes the whole counter's clutter

It fits real homes.

Sunday towel restock

Sunday towel restock

Sunday afternoon, dryer still warm, towels rolled and slotted into the carved compartments — warm cotton against wood that smells faintly sweet, the way real teak does. Monday through Friday runs on autopilot because this one shelf is already set.

Nine-thirty soak

Nine-thirty soak

9:30 on a weeknight, tub filling, a glass of wine and the salts within reach in the lower cutout. The wood beside the water stays warm to the touch — the same teak as the steam room at the gym.

Thanksgiving washup

Thanksgiving washup

Thanksgiving afternoon, guests cycling through to wash up before the meal. The carved shelf is what they mention back at the table — the one thing nobody expects to find in a bathroom.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain follows every carved contour — and in shower steam the figure darkens a shade, then dries back by morning. Real wood, breathing on schedule.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own oils and silica — the chemistry of ship decks and spa benches. We hand-rub more into every compartment, so water beads and sheets off rather than soaking in.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

Roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with about half oak's seasonal movement — steamy Augusts and furnace-dry Januaries pass without a check opening anywhere in the carving.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors teak deepens rather than silvers — greying needs outdoor sun and rain. Any black spots are mildew on surface soap film, not the wood; a soft scrub and the fan clear them.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak stock is pulled board by board by thirty-year selectors, then spends twenty days in a temperature-controlled kiln. Anything with twist or checks never makes the cut.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The compartments and cutouts are traced, then cut slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the hand-carving that gives each hollow its final form.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Every contour is sanded through five grits until the inside of each compartment feels as finished as the front face — checked with a bare hand, not just a light.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks stability and finish before the shelf is signed out of the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Will these shelves hold up in a humid bathroom?
Yes — teak is the default wood of commercial steam rooms and spa benches, environments wetter than any home bath. Its own oils and silica resist moisture, it will not splinter when wet, and each board was kiln-dried for twenty days before carving, so steam cycles do not move it.
What fits in the carved compartments?
The asymmetrical compartments are sized for real bathroom life — rolled towels, bottles of oil, jars, candles, and small plants. Because each shelf is hand-carved to order, tell us what you plan to store and we will proportion the openings around it.
What does mounting involve?
Shelves ship with concealed brackets and hardware for both studs and masonry. Anchor into at least one stud where possible; over tile, use the included anchors and a quality masonry bit.
How do I care for teak near a shower?
Small job: wipe standing water after showers, run the fan, and re-oil every few months in a steamy bathroom. If a dark spot ever appears, it is mildew on surface soap film, not rot — mild soap, a soft brush, and it is gone.
How is my order packed and shipped?
Every shelf is made to order, wrapped edge to edge, and boxed with rigid corner guards protecting the carved contours. You receive tracking the day it ships; check the carton on arrival and report any transit damage right away — we make it right.
