Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Floating vanity shelf

One teak slab, no box to swell

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

A single teak slab, floated at exactly the right height.

The designers reduced the vanity to one act: a single teak slab, sixteen by eighteen inches, that carries a sink and nothing else. The board is solid through its full thickness — top to underside, no MDF core, nothing to bubble at a seam when steam sits in the room after a hot shower. Hand-shaped, hand-sanded, then sealed under a waterproof coat that leaves a light gloss.

Most bathroom cabinets are compressed board in a moisture costume, and one swollen seam by year two gives them away. This slab is the correction: teak pulled off the stacks and dried twenty days in a controlled kiln before the first cut, so it arrives already done moving. You face it at 6:40 every morning, and it holds up its end.

  • Carries a vessel or drop-in sink on one solid teak board
  • Sealed waterproof coat wipes dry after every splash and shave
  • Floats clear of the floor, so the mop passes straight under
  • Four thicknesses, 1.2 to 3.5 inches, matched to your basin
  • No cabinet box, no MDF seams to swell in steam

It fits real homes.

Six-forty a.m.

Six-forty a.m.

Shower steam still fogging the mirror, tap running hot. A watch and a wedding ring land on the sealed teak in the two spots they have claimed for years, and the slab is warm under the wrist where the tile beside it stays cold.

The renovation reveal

The renovation reveal

Labor Day weekend, the bathroom redo finally signed off. Grout set, paint cured, and the slab goes up last — one board on the wall, and the room stops reading as a six-week project and starts reading as a finished bathroom.

Saturday reset

Saturday reset

Guest towels folded in thirds before the in-laws land at noon. Ten minutes of straightening, one wipe across the gloss where last night's toothpaste dried, and the live edge under the basin handles the rest of the impression on its own.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight grain runs from the squared wall side to the bark line, and under the vanity bulb it reads calm instead of busy — the even figure that put teak on ship decks and spa benches alike. Dry, a thumb still finds it cool and close-pored.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own oils and silica beneath the sealed top coat, so the golden tone glows from inside the slab rather than off a sprayed film. Open the crate on delivery day and the room smells faintly of sawn wood, not of paint or solvent.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak, the shelf stays flat over a steaming basin — through a humid Gulf August and the first dry week the winter furnace runs and drops the room to twenty percent humidity.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors teak does not go silver — that takes outdoor sun and rain. In a bright bathroom it deepens slightly toward amber over its first year, evenly across the face, the way the same wood ages on a steam-room bench at the gym.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Slabs are pulled one at a time from the kiln-dried stacks for a clean live edge and calm grain. Twisted or checked stock never becomes a vanity.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The shelf is cut slightly proud of its final line, the bark edge taped against tear-out, leaving material for the handwork ahead.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The top and live edge are sanded through five successive grits until they feel right against a wet, open palm — the test a bathroom surface actually faces.

The final inspection

The final inspection

The waterproof coat goes on in thin layers, cured between each. The maker lays a straightedge across the top to check flatness before the shelf leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Why teak for a wall-hung vanity?
Because bathrooms are where lesser wood fails first. Teak's own oils and silica are the reason spas and steam rooms bench it — environments wetter than any home bath — and there is no particleboard core here to swell at a seam or feed a formaldehyde smell.
What widths and cutouts are available?
Widths are built to order from about 24 to 72 inches, with sink cutouts drilled to your specified basin and faucet. Send fixture spec sheets with your order for exact cutouts.
What does installation require?
A concealed steel hanging rail carries the vanity; it must anchor into studs or blocking. Plumbing hookup uses standard US fittings — most plumbers complete installation in under an hour.
How do I keep the teak golden?
Wipe standing water after use and run the fan — that is the whole job. The waterproof top coat means no oiling schedule, and any black spots that ever appear are soap and body oil sitting on the surface, not the wood rotting; a soft scrub lifts them.
How is the vanity delivered?
Every vanity is made to order and freight-crated with the rail, hardware, and templates packed inside. Photograph the crate before the driver leaves and note anything on the receipt — if it arrives damaged, we make it right.
Does the price include a sink or faucet?
No — the price covers one solid teak shelf only, with no sink and no faucet. The standard shelf is 2 inches thick, with 1.2, 2, 2.75, and 3.5-inch options available; message us for other sizes and thicknesses.
