Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Bath seat

A seat that makes showers slower

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The bathroom's smallest luxury is a place to sit.

Each seat is cut from solid teak — the wood boatbuilders trust on open decks, rich in the natural oils that shrug off water and steam. It is shaped along spare mid-century lines and sanded to a soft radius, its tight, even grain reading quiet under the hand, and it stays flat and true through years of daily showers.

A bathroom is mostly cold surfaces — tile, porcelain, chrome. Wood is the one material in the room that never startles bare skin, which is why spas and steam rooms have always used it. One low seat, and the nightly shower stops being a task; the owner starts calling it the best chair in the house.

  • A steady seat inside or beside the shower
  • Warm under bare skin where tile runs cold
  • Low mid-century profile fits small bathrooms
  • Solid teak — oil-rich, and no two seats alike
  • Wipes dry in seconds; a squeegee habit keeps it spotless

It fits real homes.

The unhurried shower

The unhurried shower

9:30 on a weeknight, steam building, and finally somewhere to sit while the conditioner does its work. Ten extra minutes stop feeling like a guilty indulgence and start feeling like the point.

The steady perch

The steady perch

6:15 on a workday — shaving, a foot scrub, contacts in. The low seat plants itself on wet tile and does not skate, no matter how rushed the morning gets.

Off-duty hours

Off-duty hours

Between showers it stands beside the tub with a stack of towels and the paperback that lives in the bathroom. Saturday evening it holds the wine glass at exactly arm's height. Furniture, not equipment.

Teak, up close.

Grain from the tree

No two seats repeat, but teak reads calm rather than loud — tight, straight, even grain drawn from the tree, not printed on a film, and a warm golden tone that turns deeper still where wet feet land.

Grain from the tree

Finished by hand

The seat is hand-sanded and oiled rather than wrapped in plastic film — warm and slightly grippy under wet feet, never slick, and renewable at home for decades.

Finished by hand

Kiln-dried and joined

Stock is dried in the kiln to stable moisture and joined wood to wood, so daily steam followed by a running exhaust fan cannot work the joints loose.

Kiln-dried and joined

Built to be inherited

Teak carries its own oils, so a bathroom's humidity and light only burnish it; left alone it can silver to a soft grey, and a light sanding with fresh oil resets it to gold in twenty minutes, whenever you choose.

Built to be inherited

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak boards are pulled one at a time for sound, oil-rich structure first, then for the quiet, even grain that runs the length of the seat.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The seat and legs are cut proud of their templates, keeping material for the soft radius the handwork will bring.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Seat edges are sanded by hand through fine grits until bare skin meets nothing but warm, smooth wood — no corner left to find.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats; the maker checks the stance on a wet, uneven surface before signing it out.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

Is teak safe in a wet bathroom?
Yes — teak is the wood boatbuilders use on open decks, dense and full of natural oils that resist water, so a home shower asks little of it. Every board is chosen by selectors with thirty years at the stacks, then kiln-dried for twenty days at controlled heat, so it has finished moving before it is built and will not warp or crack in a steamy room. Wipe it dry after showers and it serves for years.
Can the bench be sized to my shower stall?
Yes. Benches are built to order, so width and height match your stall or wet room. Send the alcove measurements and we will size the bench with proper clearance — measure the door of a framed enclosure too.
Does it need installation?
Shower benches arrive assembled with stainless, rust-proof hardware and adjustable feet for sloped shower floors. Rated well beyond everyday seated weight, they need no wall attachment — set it down and sit.
What care does teak need in a wet room?
Rinse soap residue off weekly and let the wood dry between showers — black spots on bath wood are mildew feeding on soap scum sitting on the surface, not the wood failing. Run the fan, keep a squeegee habit, and re-oil every few months to hold the tone, or let it mellow; the seat stays sound either way.
How does it ship?
Each bench is made to order and shipped in a compact padded box with feet fitted and hardware installed. Check the box on arrival and note any damage with the carrier; tracking is provided on the day of dispatch.
