Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Hand-carved teak · Wall art

The calm above the headboard

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

The last thing you see at night should be quiet.

The layers were drawn to slow a room down — long, low curves stacked like tidewater at dusk. A carver works them into solid teak, panel by panel, so no two follow quite the same line, then rubs oil into every ridge by hand. Your panel's curves repeat nowhere else — one of one, literally.

A bedroom is the last room that should smell like chemicals or read like a showroom. There is no lacquer film here and no particleboard behind the relief — nothing to off-gas over the pillow — just carved teak turning lamplight into slow-moving shadow. The house tour keeps stalling at this wall, and you keep letting it.

  • The wall above a headboard or dresser gets its center
  • Hidden mount hangs flat on two screws — no visible hardware
  • No glass, so the bedside lamp never bounces into your eyes
  • Sixteen inches square — presence without crowding a bedroom wall
  • Carved depth turns lamplight into slow-moving evening shadow

It fits real homes.

The last page

The last page

Ten-forty, one lamp on, three pages left in the chapter. The light lies almost flat across the relief, pooling shadow in every fold, and when it finally clicks off, the wall is the last calm shape the day offers.

Curtain light

Curtain light

Saturday, close to eight, low autumn sun working through the curtains. The light crosses the relief fold by fold, warming the oiled grain from honey to amber, and you stay in bed a few minutes past reasonable just to watch it travel.

Guest room, finished

Guest room, finished

Thanksgiving weekend, and the guest room finally reads finished — bed, lamp, the carved panel over the headboard. Your sister sleeps in, which never happens, and blames the room on her way to coffee.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even teak grain carries through every layered curve, keeping the relief calm — and under a fingertip the folds read smooth and faintly warm, the way glass never does.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils; we hand-rub more across the folds. The result is a low, lamp-warm satin with no lacquer film and no finish smell in the room — it arrives smelling of wood.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, dried three slow weeks in the kiln before carving, the panel hangs flat while winter heat drops the bedroom's humidity by half.

Density you can feel

Golden now, silver whenever

In a bedroom's soft light the golden tone barely shifts for decades — silvering needs outdoor sun and rain. Should a bright window ever mellow it, a light sanding and fresh oil restore the warmth at home.

Golden now, silver whenever

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak boards are pulled one at a time and matched by tone under the workshop's north window, so the layered curves read as one surface.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The layered pattern is traced from templates in chalk, then carved slightly proud of the line, leaving material for the handwork that softens every curve.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

Each fold is sanded by hand through successive grits, the dust brushed clear between passes, until the relief reads soft to the eye and smooth to the fingertips.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the relief under a bedside-height lamp on the shop wall, then the hidden mount, before it ships.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Wall art in this collection is worked from solid-wood panels and slices — carved, joined, or arranged — so the depth and shadow are real cut wood, not a printed pattern. No veneer, no MDF backer, nothing that cannot be sanded and renewed.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — every piece is made to order, so dimensions scale to your wall. Send a photo with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions before carving begins.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang level on two screws in under ten minutes.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush or cloth — nothing else is required year to year. There is no film finish to crack, and if decades of sun ever soften the tone, a light sanding and fresh oil reset it at home.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton, hardware taped inside. Tracking is emailed at dispatch; photograph any damaged carton before the driver leaves and we will make it right.
Is this piece suited to hanging over a bed?
It was drawn for exactly that. The panel is 16 inches wide by 16 inches high, hangs flat on a hidden mount above a headboard, and has no glass to catch lamplight. The relief reads calm at close range — which is where a bedroom wall puts it.
