Natural wood, one piece at a time

Wood grain, knots, edge contours, and color naturally vary from piece to piece. Product images show the expected character rather than an identical grain pattern.

General care

These products are not waterproof. Their durable wood-and-finish construction is designed to handle ordinary accidental spills when liquid is wiped up promptly. Avoid standing water, soaking, submersion, and harsh cleaners.

Dimensions & assembly

Exact dimensions for each size are listed on the option you select above. Most pieces arrive fully assembled; wall-mounted designs include hardware and a template. Measure doorways and stair turns before ordering — most pieces pass a standard 32-inch doorway.

Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth and oil the grain once or twice a year to keep the surface nourished.

Shipping & returns

Your piece ships free in a protective wooden crate. Freight delivery comes with a scheduled window and tracking; white-glove service — carried inside, placed, packaging removed — is available at checkout.

Returns: 30 days from payment. Pieces need to be unused and in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup and walk you through repacking. Damaged or defective on arrival? We repair, replace or refund at no cost. Made-to-order pieces can be changed or cancelled while the build has not started.

Solid teak · Wall art

Real carved shadow, not a printed panel

The piece

Plate I
Plate II

Solid teak, carved by hand into a wall's quiet centerpiece.

The panel starts as solid teak, 39 inches wide and 20 tall — proportions the designers worked out for the empty span above a sideboard or sofa. An artisan carves the form by hand, following the grain rather than fighting it. Because it is one solid board and not a printed veneer skin, the ridges and hollows are real wood all the way through, and light catches every one.

Mass-produced wall decor is a photograph glued to fiberboard, identical in ten thousand living rooms and flat as a poster. This throws actual shadow that shifts from morning to lamplight, and no two carvings run the grain the same way. The owner gets the quiet, repeated pleasure of watching a guest step closer to see whether it is really wood.

  • Fills a 39-inch span above a console, sideboard, or headboard
  • Real carved depth throws light and shadow, not a printed pattern
  • Hangs on two screws with fitted hardware included
  • Solid teak, so it will not craze or curl near sun
  • No two carvings repeat — yours is the only one

It fits real homes.

Nine a.m. on camera

Nine a.m. on camera

Monday standup, camera on. The carved panel sits behind the desk chair and reads calm on video — one warm focal point where most backgrounds are blank drywall or clutter. It is the rare thing in frame that looks chosen, not accumulated.

The hallway pause

The hallway pause

Kids trail fingertips along the carved ridges on the way to bed, the same route every night. In a hallway of flat paint, the relief is the one surface that asks to be touched, and it has become a landmark inside the house.

Late light

Late light

Sunday, four p.m., the reading lamp raked low across the panel. Every hollow the carver left fills with shadow, and the piece looks nothing like it did at noon. An hour with a book, and the wall keeps changing beside you.

Teak, up close.

Grain that reads quiet

Tight, straight, even grain runs across the carved face, guiding the eye down into each hollow instead of scattering it — the calm, consistent figure that made teak the wood collectors ask for by name.

Grain that reads quiet

The finish nature applied

Teak carries its own natural oils. We hand-rub more into the relief, deepening the golden tone to a warm satin that holds shadow — and unlike a lacquer film, it will not craze or spider-crack near a sun-warmed wall.

The finish nature applied

Density you can feel

At roughly 700 kilograms per cubic meter, with shrinkage about half that of oak, the panel hangs flat and true — no cupping when winter's forced-air furnace pulls the room dry.

Golden now, silver whenever

Indoors the carved surface only deepens with the years. Should a hard afternoon sun ever lighten one side, rotate it or add UV window film, and a soft cloth with fresh oil evens the tone back out.

From plank to piece.

The wood selection

The wood selection

Teak stock is pulled board by board for figure worth carving, then kiln-dried twenty days so the wood finishes its moving before the first cut; anything with twist, checks, or dull grain never reaches the bench.

The shaping process

The shaping process

The design is traced onto the panel, then cut slightly proud of the line — leaving material for the carving that follows.

The hand refinement

The hand refinement

The relief is carved and sanded by hand until every ridge feels smooth to a fingertip, not merely clean from a step away.

The final inspection

The final inspection

Oil goes on in thin coats, buffed between each. The maker checks the hanging hardware and finish before the panel leaves the workshop.

One maker follows each piece from rough plank to the final coat of oil, and signs off before it is crated.

The Timber Vintique workshop

No two boards alike

The grain that arrives is yours alone.

  1. Every board is cut from a different tree — the photos here are a reference, not a promise.
  2. Your piece is photographed in the workshop before it ships, so you see your exact grain.
  3. Small knots and mineral streaks come with real wood. We leave them in.

Delivery, done properly.

White-glove option

Choose white-glove and the crew brings the piece inside, places it in the room, and removes every bit of packaging.

Crated for freight

Each piece travels in its own wooden crate with corner protection, built to cross the country without a scuff.

Scheduled window

You get a delivery appointment and tracking — not a truck that shows up unannounced.

Honest returns

30 days from payment. If it isn't right — unused, in original condition — we arrange the freight pickup. Made-to-order terms are stated up front.

Questions customers usually ask

What is the wall art made from?
Solid teak, carved from one board — not a print laminated to fiberboard. That is why it casts real shadow and can be dusted and re-oiled for decades, instead of scratching down to a paper layer the first time it is knocked.
Can a piece be scaled to my wall?
Yes — dimensions scale to your wall since each piece is made to order. Send a photo of the space with rough measurements and we will suggest proportions.
How does it hang?
Hanging hardware is fitted at the workshop — keyhole slots or French cleats by weight — with matching anchors in the box. Most pieces hang on two screws.
Does wooden wall art need maintenance?
Dust with a soft dry brush. Keep it off a wall that takes hard afternoon sun so the honey tone deepens evenly rather than on one side, and skip spray polish — it only dulls the oil. Nothing else is required year to year.
How does wall art ship?
Each piece is made to order and ships flat in a rigid, foam-lined carton with the hardware taped inside. Open and check it before you sign for it. Tracking is emailed to you once the carton ships.
What size is this particular piece?
This carving measures 39 inches wide by 20 inches tall — sized to anchor the wall above a sideboard, console, or queen headboard. Hardware for that weight is fitted before it ships.
